<< Previous Day - Gratitude Day 2: Grateful to You

Making or Breaking Peoples Days

Have you ever had a one comment to that just filled you up all day? One little comment that made you feel appreciated, noticed, liked and it just made you feel good all day. Or, did you ever have someone do something rude or mean to you for no reason at all and it just spoiled your whole day? You got home and you were still in a stinky mood because of it?

We are all Connected

Which would you like to spread? Do you want to be the kind of person who makes other people feel great about themselves? Or the kind of person who ruins peoples days?

The interconnections between you and all the people in your life make your life what it is. As you grow the habits of gratitude, you’ll notice that everyone around you becomes more eager to see you. Think for a moment about how good you are making them feel, the fact that they are excited to see you tells you as much. Sure, your Personal Development efforts are helping you enjoy life more, but did you even consider how much better you are making everyone around you feel about themselves?

That’s the first real gem of gratitude. When you get in the habit of always being and expressing gratitude, others in your life will get in the habit enjoying and looking forward to your company. When that happens, then the joy you bring will be deeper, more solid, and they will carry it with them spreading it to everyone in their lives.

Six Degrees of Separation

Ever hear of the six degrees of separation? It’s a chart that shows every person on the entire planet is only six people away from direct contact with every other person…

Gratitude is special, because it amplifies really easily. You are never diminished for giving away gratitude. It just builds and builds, and with only six degrees of separation for the whole planet, being grateful to just one waiter or waitress who really tried hard may literally echo around the entire world in just a few days. By being a beacon of gratitude you are priming the pump for the everyone everywhere…

It gets even better, if you did the exercises this week you may have noticed that it feels good to be grateful! You don’t need to wait for it to come back to you, it is immediate!

This is why gratitude is so powerful, it builds in a way none of the others do. When you give it, they get more, and you get more! When they reflect it, they get more, and you get more! It’s one of the most amazing things in the entire Universe… A supply which grows the more it is given away…

Today’s Exercise

For today’s exercise… let’s bring the envelope in a bit. Let’s aim a little closer to home, and let’s go big. Your immediate family… Call ‘em, email em, go see em, whatever it takes, get all of them if you can. Even, perhaps especially, if you’re mad at them. Mom, Dad, sisters, brothers, your kids, pets…

These aren’t strangers or acquaintances, these are the people you’ve likely known the longest if not the best, so make these gratitude’s come from the heart. Give them some time, focus on really feeling it. Truly feeling what it is to be grateful before you share it with them. Then share from the heart, open up to them, listen to them, feel the gratitude you have for them completely…

Challenge yourself with this one, tomorrow we’re taking it to a whole new level…

See you tomorrow…
