The Awesome Foundation and Jeff Waldmen

The Awesome Foundation provides one $1000 grants each month for awesome projects. No strings attached and claims no ownership over the projects it supports. It is, in the words of one of their trustees: “A micro-genius grant for flashes of micro-brilliance.”

For a foundation with a mission statement of:

“Forwarding the interest of Awesome in the universe,
$1,000 at a time.”

…they seemed a perfect fit for Jeff Waldmen whose swingsetting.org project has already tackled: San Francisco, Panama, and as seen here in this video, Los Angeles with a single concept: “Swings are Awesome”…

So a few months back, awesome met awesome, and some surprising smiles were found to spread :-)

As America approaches yet another election year, the early front runners are beginning to go public with their views, opinions, and promises – and the whole world (at least a few people) are asking, “Will the Americans get a clue?”

Now, personally, being born and mostly raised in the continental Untied States, I’ve got to admit, “I hope so, it’s been hard to watch the last 12 years…”

Now, for those of you not in the United States, you should know, Most / Many Americans are embarrassed for sake of our policy makers relentless war on peace… But finally, a candidate has stepped forward who truly represents the views of the people, and for the first time in many years – There is Hope once again… Monalle is proud to support, Mos Def for president…

Impasse by Wanderlands

I am told it can be won… But I have no evidence to support that fact…

The truth is, for the first time ever, I’m stuck.

Normally, when a game get’s submitted, I play it a bit, see if it can be defeated, compare it to the other stuff you all have been enjoying and post it if it seems to fit the bill… Today however, I’m totally addicted, and totally stuck on level 17: “Sweep”. This has never happened before, I’ve always been able to figure it out, not one of these games has ever completely stumped me (and still been enjoyable)…

But, there’s a first time for everything, and right now, for the first time: I’m totally stuck, and totaling loving it!

The game is easy to play, not to challenging because you just sort of learn as you go, but by about level 10, it’s starts to get really heady… So if you figure it out, head over to our facebook page and give me some tips!

Cheat To Win!

Okay, so I’ll say it right up front, “I’m not a huge fan of the name of this game…” I mean, come on now, it’s not actually cheating if the rules of the game say you have to do it…

This one is from Knugen and Doki, and it is extremely clever in design, gameplay, and concept…

So the first thing I’ve done here, is place this picture to prove to you that it is possible to win this game, of course, you need to cheat to do it, so it’s not really cheating… hmmm… Let me see if I can explain that it a different way…

What Knugen’s idea was in creating this game is simple: “Let’s see how far outside the box we can get people thinking. Let’s break the rules of what how a game normally is or should be played… Let’s see if we can break the boundary between the game, and everything else going on…”

On a side note: This game is similar to Sagrario’s Room in many ways (it’s insanely difficult to genuinely solve the puzzles)… But if you get into, you may also like Sagrario’s Room or Morningstar… All three games have that: Challenging yet rewarding feeling to them…

Welcome to the Jungle – On Cellos

Luka Sulic and Stjepan Hauser can play cello. Seriously.

Luka Sulic and Stjepan Hauser are uncommonly talented and skilled classical musicians having performed before sold out audiences at London’s Wigmore Hall, Royal Albert Hall, South Bank Centre and Amsterdam’s Concertgebouw – but hey, that’s not going to stop them from pulling out the carbon fibre and graphite cellos to give a little street performance now is it?

Having played two private concerts for Prince Charles at Buckingham and St James‘s Palace plus over 30 awards in national and international competitions, you might expect these amazingly talented young men to be a little ‘Jaded’, but nothing could be further from the truth…

This is what I want to focus on this week: “Passion” – Passion for life, passion for performance, passion for just doing what you love to do… Here you’ve got two of the most accomplished classical musicians in the world, playing their own arrangement of Guns and Roses “Welcome to the Jungle” – and it’s awesome, the question is “Why?”…

Sure it’s fantastic, and the video is great, and their bound to sell a boatload of them, but there’s something deeper here that I want to shine the light on: “They do this without the camera’s…” They just go play, parks, busstops, subways, whatever, whereever, whenever… They just go play, and you can hear that in every stroke of their rapidly shredding bows…
